VICTORY MEDAL 1914-18 TO KIA GALLIPOLI. 1435 Pte. E. Toogood 7 Bn. A.I.F. Impressed. Good very fine.

Edward Toogood, farm hand, age 20, born at Bairnsdale, Victoria; Enl.04Nov1914; Emb.02Feb1915; killed at Gallipoli 08May1915; witness at enquiry stated 'saw him killed at the latrines in White Valley, Anzac. He was hit in the head and died instantaneously.... buried nearby.' The Toogood family had a miserable war. Edward's father, Harry Toogood, drowned in about 1915 and his brother, 1766 Pte Walter George Toogood, was accidentally killed in Belgium 05Nov1917.
