PHILISTIA, (Palestine), Uncertain mint (Gaza type), (c.Mid 5th century - 333 B.C.), silver drachm (4.18 g), obv. helmeted head of Athena to right, trace of 'Mem' on cheek, with pelleted base of helmet, rev. owl standing right, head facing, olive spray behind, [A**Q*E], before, (S.-, cf.Gitler & Tal, 'The Coinage of Philistia of the Fifth and Fourth Centuries BC' Pl.E[V.25Da]; cf.HGC 10, 542). Fine - very fine with partial coin on flan poorly struck, rare.
