MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.61 g), Salamis (Cyprus) mint, issued 332-321 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, ornamented with a serpent, rev. Nike standing to left with open wings, holding wreath in outstretched hand an eagle in lower left field, to right **[A]LEXANDPOU*, (cf.S.6702; Price 3133, Le Rider 'Monnaies Grecques' (1) (Pl.i.3), M.-, BMC -). Nearly extremely fine and very rare.
