MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), gold stater, (8.50 g), Lampsacus mint, issued c.323-317 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, hair flowing and snake on helmet, rev. Nike standing to left, holding wreath in outstretched hand, in left field a buckle, and lower left crescent over **L*, to right **ALEXANDPOU*, (cf.S.6702; Price 1370 (p.213), BMC 1370, M.625). Good very fine, well centred, with traces of mint bloom.
