LANARKSHIRE, Glasgow, Sir James Maxwell, Thistle Bank, four shillings and ninepence, a Charles III Mexico City Mint eight reales, 1784 countermarked 'Thistle Bank' in a circle, 4/9 in centre, a thistle in a circle on the reverse (Manville 46) (c1803-10). Toned, good very fine and scarce.

Ex Stacks sale 6-7 Dec 1995 (lot 1616), W.J.Noble (lot 1587) and K.A.Hicks collections.
