LANARKSHIRE, Glasgow, Sir James Maxwell, Thistle Bank, five shillings, a Charles IIII Mexico City Mint eight reales, 1807TH, countermarked 'Thistle Bank' in a circle, 5/- in relief in centre, reverse thistle in circle (Manville 44) (c1810-15). A choice nearly uncirculated example, good extremely fine and very rare, about twelve known.

Ex S.V.Hagley, W.J.Noble (lot 1590) and K.A.Hicks collections.
