THE COMMERCIAL BANKING COMPANY OF SYDNEY LIMITED, one pound, Sydney, 2 Aug 1904, No. G 192208 (MVR p.142-152 on bank type 5b). Minor edge rust top left, good colour and nearly very fine, rare.

This bank commenced in 1832 as the 'Commercial Banking Company of Sydney' and remodelled with a new bank bearing the name 'The Commercial Bank of Sydney'. That bank suspended payment on May 16, 1893 and reopened as The Commercial Banking Company of Sydney Limited' on June 19, 1893. In 1983 it was merged with the National Bank of Australasia to become National Australia Bank (NAB).
