Charles Henry Butler, farm labourer, age 25, born near Chudleigh, Tasmania; previous service of 2 1/2 years in 1st Bn Tasmanian Rangers; Enl.22Jul1915 at Claremont in 12Bn; Emb.16Oct1915 to serve in MEF; Sgt 29Feb1916; to 52Bn 01Mar1916 and reverted to ranks; 03Mar1916 to Cpl; MIA 04Sep1916, then body found near Pozieres and recorded KIA in the field, France; commemorated on Villers Bretonneux Memorial.
