GROUP OF FIVE WITH MID FOR MALAYA: 1939-45 Star; Burma Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Medal 1939-45; General Service Medal 1918-62 (GVIR), - clasp - Malaya with MID. Capt. J.P.Hulme. 7 G.R. The first four medals unnamed as issued, the last with naming erased and then engraved, the unit impressed. Court mounted, extremely fine.

Together with a swing mounted matching set of miniatures.

Captain (Honorary Major) John Percy Hulme, 7th Duke of Edinburgh's Own Gurkha Rifles (7 G.R.) since 1 July 1994 part of The Royal Gurkha Rifles.

MID: Supplement to LG 5/4/1949, p1760, to Maj (temp) J.P.Hulme (388908) in recognition of gallant and distinguished services in Malaya during the period 1st July 1948 to 31st December 1948.

Supplement to LG 30/4/1948, p2691 Gurkha Regt - The undermentioned 2nd Lts (War Subs Capts) from Ind. Army Emerg. Commn. to be Capts 1st Apr 1948 with seniority as follows - John Percy Hulme (388908) 23rd Oct 1945.

Supplement to LG 2/10/1953, p5224, Brigade of Gurkhas, 7 G.R., short service commission, Capt J.P.Hulme (388908) from Active List to be Capt, 22nd Sept 1953, retaining his present seniority and is granted the honorary rank of Major.

Supplement to LG 27/4/1956, p2458, 7 G.R., Capt (Hon Maj) J.P.Hulme (388908) from Res of Offrs Class I, to be Capt (Hon Maj), 1st Apr 1956, retaining his present seniority.

Supplement to LG 2/3/1962, p1757, 7 G.R. Regular Army Reserve of Officers Class III, Capt (Hon Maj) J.P.Hulme (388908) relinquishes his commn, 1st July 1959, retaining the hon rank of Major.

In the West Australian newspaper, Sat 22Mar1952, p14, is a photo of Mrs J.P.Hulme and a report that she had lived at Malay for two years and was returning to Western Australia to visit her mother, Mrs K.Walker of Rockingham. Mrs Hulme said she lived at the small village of Seremban about 200 miles north of Singapore along with a few other officers' wives. Her husband, Major J.P.Hulme on leave from the 7th Gurkha Rifle Regt, accompanied her.
