SIR WALTER SCOTT, Laudatory Medal, 1827, in bronze (62mm) (BHM 1312) by A.J.Stothard after F.Chantrey published by S.Parker, obverse, bare head of Sir Walter Scott right, SCOTT behind head, reverse, female leaning on column holding ribbon inscribed 'To Great Men', in exergue MDCCCXXVII, edge impressed 'Bardorum Citharas Patrio Qui Reddidit Istro' (He who restored the songs of the bards to their native lands). Obverse edge bump, otherwise extremely fine.
