ITALY, Calabria, Tarentum, (c.280-272 B.C.), silver nomos (6.01 g), obv. warrior riding left, holding shield and two spears; Z**W* to right, below, I-I above traces of **APOLLW*, rev. Taras astride dolphin left, holding distaff and bunch of grapes, AN**Q* right, below **TARAS*, (cf.S.370, Vlasto 789-91, HN Italy 1013). Fine/very fine.

Ex Dr Busso Peus Auction Sale 284, December 9-10, 1974 (lot 41). Peus notes that H.Pfeiler 'Das halbjahrliche Ephorat in Taras wahrend des Pyrrhoskrieges' in SM 1965 p.69 dates this issue to 276-275 B.C.
