ITALY, Lucania, Metapontum, (c.350-340 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (7.52 grams), obv. female head to right with diadem and leaves attached, rev. corn ear, [M]ETA to left, pomegranate to right, (cf.S.410, Noe 490 [same dies], McClean 991 [same dies]). Minor edge porosity, slightly off centred on the obverse, otherwise nearly very fine and a very rare type.
