THRACE, islands of, Samothrace, (c.280 B.C.), AE 17, (4.600 grams), obv. head of Athena to right in crested Corinthian helmet, rev. Kybele enthroned to left, holding patera and sceptre, before and after **SAMO PUQOK*, (S.1743, BMC 3 {p.2], SNG Cop. 998). Attractive dark tone, nearly extremely fine and rare in this condition.
