TRIO: 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal 1914-19. 6/3087 Pte. W.T.Manhire. N.Z.E.F. All medals impressed. Court mounted with provision for QSA however there is no eligibility for this medal, good very fine.
Private William Tennyson (Roimata) Manhire of Hornby, Canterbury; 7th Reinforcements, Canterbury Infy Bn; Emb.09Oct1915 from Wellington to Suez, Egypt; WIA 19Jun1917, casualty list 601/7. His brother, Pte E.A.D.Manhire, Canterbury Infy Regt, was KIA 04Oct1917 at Ypres, Belgium. With the second name of Tennyson there may be a family connection between Pte Manhire and New Zealand’s first Poet Laureate, Bill Manhire.
