MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA, signed letter under title of Chief of the Defence Staff, London, 14th July 1961 regarding a future movie premiere organised with American movie producer Sam Spiegel to benefit Soldiers', Sailors' and Airmen's Association. Some staining at top left corner, otherwise very fine.

Rear Admiral Lord Louis Mountbatten, 1st Viscount Mountbatten of Burma and the last Viceroy of India and 1st Governor General of independent India. From 1954 to 1959 he was First Sea Lord. He was also the uncle of the Duke of Edinburgh, husband to Queen Elizabeth II. He was assassinated by the IRA in 1979.
