TREASURE COINS, from the wreck of the Elingamite, 1902, comprises four Great Britain silver coins, halfcrown, florin and shillings (2), all Queen Victoria, in official wallet with certificate number 527. Coins salt water affected, fair, wallet and certificate extremely fine.

The Elingamite was nearing the end of a trip from Sydney to Auckland when it struck the West Island of Three King’s Islands on 9 November 1902 sinking to a depth of 150 feet within twenty minutes. By 1907 some bullion had been recovered but due to the death of two divers, the balance remained undiscovered until 1966.
