CARMICHAEL SCHOOL, 1884, award medal in silver (44mm) by T.W.Ingram, obverse, seated Minerva crowning with a wreath a pupil standing before her, the temple of Fame on a rocky eminence in the background, above 'Premium Laboris', in exergue engraved 'Carmichael School', reverse, open wreath, inside inscribed, 'Robert Knox / Excelsior / 1884' (Grimshaw p28, 29). In case of issue, small edge bump on obverse at 3 o'clock, beautifully toned uncirculated.

This medal has been in possession of the family which settled originally in the NSW Hunter Valley region in the 19th century.
