London, Patent Hardened Steel Plate, SPECIMEN stamped horizontally in Manager area, 'October 17th 1863 (inserted before date)' added in pencil in the bottom margin (Robb.B.224a[this note]; L.401; P.S111). Small tear in top margin, otherwise very fine.
