FIRST ISSUE, proof one pound, uniface, on card, here -, 18-, imprint of Perkins, Bacon & Co. London, Patent Hardened Steel Plate, horizontal SPECIMEN stamp below in 'Manager' area and vertically (Robb.PTU2b). Several tears and some scuffing, otherwise good fine.
Believed to be an 1862 trial. Ex Perkins Bacon Archive, Spink (Melbourne) Sale, 23 May 1995 (lot 969).
