KING'S POLICE MEDAL (GVR) (FIRST COINAGE HEAD ISSUE). (Thos Reilly Serjt R.I.C.) naming partly discernable after attempted erasure. Very fine.

Sergeant T.Reilly, Royal Irish Constabulary, Portadown, County Armagh. Awarded the King's Police Medal for conspicuous gallantry in arresting and disarming a leading rebel* whose capture during the early part of the rebellion was of the greatest importance. *Patrick Fahy was a well known extremist and his capture at this juncture was of the first importance. He was subsequently tried by Court Martial and sentenced to ten years penal servitude. KPM L G 12Feb1917 pg 1460. Ex Spink Auction (London) 12 March 1996 (lot 795).
