NICHOLAS II, (1894 - 1917), 1894 dated Medal or ’Acession Rouble’ comprising 50 medals or pattern roubles in golden alloy, 50 medals or pattern roubles in high grade copper and 50 in nickel silver, struck to a prooflike/proof finish in limited quantities, FDC. (150)

From a total mintage of only 450 pieces of each metal. The son of Czar Alexander III and Empress Maria Feodorovna, Nicholas was a gentle and approachable man, but according to contemporaries, contradictory in his moods. A steadfast believer in the divine rights of rulers he stubbornly resisted change in an era when common sense demanded pragmatism.
