ALEXANDER I, (1801 - 1825), 1808 dated Medal or ’Military Rouble’ comprising 50 medals or pattern roubles in golden alloy, 50 medals or pattern roubles in polished pewter and 50 medals or pattern roubles in high grade copper, struck to a prooflike/proof finish in limited quantities, FDC. (150)

From a total mintage of only 650 pieces of each metal. Eventually, Alexander turned his energies towards the defeat of Napoleon, and despite his successes, the affairs of state seemed to take their toll. There was a transition from the young idealist and European peacemaker to a more orthodox Russian Czar, determined to take the interests of his own people and of his religion into his own hands.
