Lewis Potter Bain commenced business in Sydney as a stockbroker in 1877. Over the years the business has had several name changes, namely, L P Bain & Son (1908), L P Bain & Sons (1925), H E Rudd Bain & Co (1949), Rudd, Bain, Macdonald & Co (1960), Constable & Bain (1971), Bain & Company (1976), Bain Securities Limited and Bain & Company Investor Services Limited (1986-87), Bain Securities Limited (1988/89), Deutsche Morgan Grenfell Securities Australia Limited (1996/97) and finally Deutsche Securities Australia Limited (1998).
