CHARLES I, (1625 - 1649), Tower mint under king, silver crown, mm tun over crown, issued 1636-8, Group III, type 3a, (29.86 grams), rev. single pellet either side of mint mark, fleur de lis on frame of shield in the fourth quarter, (S.2758, N.2195, Cooper XVI+/XXI+, Brooker 260 [this coin]). Toned and round, obverse legend double struck, fine/very fine and very scarce.

Ex Spink, London, January 1985 and previously from the John Brooker Collection (No.260), who acquired it from Lord (Rodney) Smith of Marlow Collection (item 51), previously from the Captain Harold Edmund George Paget Collection, sold in Glendining’s London 25 September 1946 (lot 74) also coming from the Thomas Bryan Clarke-Thornhill Collection, Glendining’s London 24 May 1937 (lot 478) with tickets.
