ENI AWARD, gold medal of 22 carat, (330 grams, diameter 80mm), hallmarked, in presentation case to Martin Green, the medal by A.Santoro, struck by the Italian Zecca di Stato (State Mint), with certificate of medal from Rome, 2009, obv. scientist looking through microscope, design of leaves and circular arrows, rev. inscription in four lines within the field "Eni Award 2009/ Renewable and / Non-conventional Energy Prize/ Martin Green". Uncirculated and very rare.

Presented to Prof. Martin A. Green, Scientia professor (ARC Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence, School of Photovoltaic and Renewable Energy Engineering) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). See the following lot for biographical details. The aim of the ENI award is to encourage a better use of energy sources, promote environmental research and valorise new generations of researchers. The award is made annually by the major Italian integrated energy company, Eni S.p.A., demonstrating the company’s commitment to scientific research and to issues of sustainability characterised by the complexity and completeness of the approach to the issue of sustainable energy. The Award has a consolidated and prestigious network of researchers in the field of energy and the environment and has been awarded to three Nobel prize-winners. More than 800 researchers from around the world have submitted their research projects, to which should be added the numerous personalities who have guaranteed or been a part of the various evaluation commissions. The Award’s Scientific Committee - which has the role of evaluating the candidates and assigning the prizes, is of the highest level and comprises researchers and scientists from some of the world’s most advanced research institutes, and includes the Nobel prize-winner Sir Harold Kroto. Each of the winners declared by the Committee will receive a prize of a gold medal specially minted by the Italian Zecca di Stato (State Mint) with prize money totalling Euros 725,000 (seven hundred and twenty-five thousand euros).
