SWEETHEART POWDER COMPACT, WWII, engraved on lid with a naval ship inside a map of Australia with ports of Darwin, Sydney and Albany indicated and the year 1945, with 'H.M.S.Suffolk' below, inscription at top, 'To my Dear Wife / from Harry' and at the bottom, 'In Australia'. Very fine.

HMS Suffolk, the British, 'Kent' Class, heavy cruiser was used to transport repatriated military and civilian personnel from Australia. It made its first such trip to Australia on 26 August 1945.
