DCM LG 20Oct1916, CAG 19Apr1917 'On night of 9/10 Aug/16 although wounded continued to supervise construction of strong points during bombardment. His Officer and N.C.Os being killed or wounded. Wound forced him to leave and he assisted comrades to dressing station'.
