GORDIAN III, (A.D. 238-244), silver denarius, Rome mint, issued 241, (1.972 grams), obv. laureate bust right, around IMP GORDIANVS PIVS FEL AVG, rev. VIRTVTI AVGVSTI, around, with Hercules standing to right, holding lion resting on club, (S.8684, RIC 116, RSC 403). Extremely fine.

With collector's descriptive ticket and Mail Bid Sale 193 (lot 5033) ticket.
