PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Valerius Gratus under Tiberius, (A.D. 15-26), copper prutah, (1.820 grams), obv. within a wreath, traces of a Greek inscription, IOY **LIA, (Julia, is a reference to Julia Livia, mother of Tiberius), rev. three lilies in bloom flanked by date [L **G*], L**G* = year 3 = A.D. 16, (S.5615, H.642 [107], AJC II Supplement V, No.12, Meshorer 223); another (2.108 grams), obv. vine leaf with a bunch of grapes, above [IOY**LIA], rev. narrow-neck amphora with scroll handles, flanked by date [L] **D*, (L**D* = year 4 = A.D. 17), (S.5618, H.643 [108], AJC II Supplement V, No.16, Meshorer 224). Both weak in places, otherwise fine or better, second with a clear date reading, both scarce. (2)
