SYRIA, Seleucis & Pieria, Antiochia ad Orontem (Antioch), Nero and Agrippina Junior (A.D. 54-68), silver tetradrachm, (14.516 grams), obv. laureate head to right of Nero, **NERWNOS KLAUDIOU KAI[SAPOS SEB]*, rev. in field to right **G*/EP (year 105 of Caesarian Era = A.D. 56-7), **AGRIPPEINHS SEBASTHS* draped bust of Agrippina Junior to right, (S.653, McAlee 253, Prieur 74, RPC 4175). Toned, some surface roughness and pitting, otherwise very fine and very rare.

Ex Gordon Parry Collection and previously from Dieter Gorny, Auction 69, Nov. 11, 1996 (lot 551) with packet. Antioch at this time was striking in good silver with a high standard of portraiture. This example provides interesting portraits of Nero and Agrippina. Unfortunately this example has surface pitting.
