MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (3.964 grams), Lampsacus mint, issued c.310-301 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, K I to left, to right **ALEXANDRO[U]*, and N O monogram under throne, (cf.S.6730, Price 1398, BMC 1398, M.823, SNG Cop. 990). Toned, good very fine.

Ex Dr. John A. Sawhill Collection and James Madison University Collection, Stack's New York, March 15, 1979 (lot 1033) and previously from the Mass. Historical Society Collection, sold at Stacks March 5, 1971 (lot 153).
