GYMPIE AGRICULTURAL, Mining and Pastoral Society Show, 1896, 9 ct gold hand inscribed prize medal (5.4 g) (32 x 26 mm) for gold quartz, obverse Gympie/ A. M & P./Society Show/1896, reverse IN. Glanmire/G.M. Coy Ltd/Specimen/of/Gold Quartz; also silver hallmarked shield shaped medal with conjoined initials on reverse and the legend "from/mother/1920" on reverse. Fine.

Gold was found in Gympie in October 1867. The Gympie Agricultural, Mining and Pastoral Society was formed in 1877. The first show was held in the same year. Shows were held regularly up to 1909.
