IRELAND, Hiberno-Norse issue penny, Phase III, c.1035-1055, obv. crude bust to left, blundered legend, rev. long cross type similar to that of Aethelred II, with two crude hands in opposite angles, (S.6132, cf.SCBI Ulster 142-212, cf.SCBI BM [1966], Nos.81-94, cf.SCBI Copenhagen 151-170, cf.Spink "Viking" Sale March 14, 2001 lot 1114-5). Extremely fine and very rare.

Ex B.A. Seaby Ltd, London, with their 1963 ticket.
