HENRY III, (1216-1272), sterling silver imitation penny, long cross issue, imitating class 5d, (1.32 grams), issued post 1250, copying an Willem of Canterbury penny, obv. [hE]NICVS REX [III]', rev. WIL/LEN/GON/KAN, (cf.S.1370, BNJ 1966 (p.91) J.J. North No.97, Pl.7 [This Coin], Westfalische Auktion lot No.100 [This Coin]). Toned, very fine and rare.

Claimed by North to be of a silvered base metal. North also has an interesting footnote on this coin.
