THESSALY, Thessalian League, (196-146 B.C.), silver stater or double victoriatus, (6.01 grams), Larissa mint, obv. head of Zeus to right, crowned with oak leaves, behind **SIMIOU*, rev. Athena Itonia advancing to right, brandishing spear and holding shield, on sides **QESSA LWN*, above two stars, either side of figure **P O/ L E*, (cf.S.2232, McClean 4716, SNG Cop. 294), Nearly very fine and rare.
