FIJI, theatre tickets, c.1943, Regal Theatre (Suva), penny No.1406, threepence No.702, sixpence No.102; Government of Fiji, emergency issue: penny, 1st July 1942 (P.47a); shilling, 1st January 1942 (P.48a); two shillings, 1st January 1942 (P.50a). The first four extremely fine, first three illustrated and rare, the last two very good. (6)
Owing to the shortage of small coinage due to the souveniring by American forces, the Regal Theatre, Suva were authorised to issue these tickets at face value when change was required on purchase of a theatre ticket. Tickets valid only at the theatre.
