NEW GUINEA, St Mathias' Total Abstinence Society, 1861, in white metal (52mm) by J.Moore, obverse an open sea in foreground, a crown, sceptre and book rest upon a rock and on the horizon a fully rigged ship, in field a hand gives a scroll inscribed with Temperance Oath to a bird in flight, reverse landscape in which a traveller drinks from a waterfall. A particularly early medal of oceanic interest. Uncirculated and rare.
