THE HON.J.G.LATHAM C.M.G. K.C. M.P., uniface cast plaque on bronze (94mm), obverse, a low relief profile portrait, The Hon J.G.Latham C.M.G. K.C. M.P., inscribed on reverse 'Attorney General'. Cast plaque probably a private commission. Good very fine and rare.

Sir John Greig Latham (1877-1964), a high profile figure in law and politics. In 1917 he was appointed head of Naval Intelligence with the honorary rank of Lieutenant Commander. He contributed to the work of the Imperial War Conference and Imperial War Cabinet. Minister of Industry 1928, made Chief Justice in 1935. He became Australia's first minister to Japan while still Chief Justice.
