SIR JOSEPH BANKS, 1816, in bronze (40mm) by W.Wyon for the Royal Horticultural Society (Eimer 1088, BHM.911). Nearly FDC.

Sir Joseph Banks accompanied Captain Cook on his circumnavigation of the world in a ship equipped at his own expense. He was President of the Royal Society from 1777 to his death in 1820 and bequeathed his Natural History collection to the nation.
