WORLD WAR II, Prisoner of War, postcard, to Gordon Pickering, Officers Mess R.A.F. Wigtown Scotland, from F/O/ J.G.Stower, Stammlager Luft 13 (P.O.W. Camp), dated 30.9.43. "Dear Pick, Thanks for all your letters you old bugger. I have learned of you though I trust you are O.K. ... I've been a P.O.W. a bloody long time now, I'm a little fed up ... Be careful old lad, yrs Johnny". Flying Officer J.G.Stower was shot after 'the Great Escape'. A highly emotive and very desirable piece of the Great Escape. With letter from RAF Museum dated 26.5.1998.

One of 50 "Great Escapers" recaptured and murdered by the Germans. On a previous escape he walked into Switzerland and was recaptured walking back into Germany after losing his bearings. Ex Noble Numismatics sale 77 (lot 2424).
