ANCIENT COINS, Egypt, Kingdom of, Ptolemy IV, (221-204 B.C.), AE 34 or hemidrachm, (34.46 grams), Alexandria mint, obv. diademed head of Zeus Ammon to right, rev. eagle to left with closed wings, standing on thunderbolt, in front cornucopiae, around **BASILEWS [PT]OLEMAIOU**, between legs **DI, (cf.S.7841, Sv. 1127, SNG Cop. 202, BMC 65, Koln 48, Pitchfork 56); Augustus, (B.C. 27 - A.D. 14), postumous issue AE as, (9.19 grams), obv. radiate head to left of Augustus, around DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER, rev. S C across, winged thunderbolt, (S.1791, RIC 83, BMC 157, C.249); Byzantine, Basil II & Constantine VII, period of (976-1025/8), copper Follis (14.79, 9.62 grams), Anonymous Class A2, Constantinople mint, obv. Nimbate facing bust of Christ, raising hand in benediction and holding Gospels, cross and pellets in nimbus, traces of +EMMA NOVHA, rev. four-line legend, diamond and lines each side below legend, (S.1813) (2); Michael VII, (A.D. 1071-1078), follis, (7.68 grams), Constantinople mint, obv. Christ bust facing with cross behind, rev. Michael's bust facing with loros holding labarum and cross on globe, (S.1878). Very good - nearly very fine. (5)
