MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.05 grams), Abydus mint, issued 310-301 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, head of Ammon to right on left field, ivy leaf under throne, **[A]LEXANDRO[U]* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 1551, BMC 1551a-d, M.189, SNG Cop. 970). Nearly very fine.
