MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.22 grams), Abydus mint, issued c.310-301 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, Ammon head to right on left field, ivy leaf below throne, to right **[AL]EXAND[ROU]*. (cf.S.6730, Price 1551, BMC 1551a-d, M.189, SNG Cop.970, SNG Lockett 1488). Very fine or better, scarce.
