PHOENICIA, Roman Province, Trajan, (A.D. 98-117), silver tetradrachm, Tyre mint, (14.480 grams), issued 110-1, obv. Trajan laureate head right, **AUTOKR KAI* C NEP TPAIAN O CCEB **GERM DAK*, legend around, rev. **DHMARC EX IE UPAT E*, eagle standing facing on club, wings spread, head to left, palm in right field, (cf.S.1077, Prieur 1504, Wruck 158). Nearly extremely fine, scarce.

Ex Antiquarius, New Zealand with their ticket. The reverse legend indicates the fifteenth year of tribunician power and five times consul and this corresponds to A.D. 110-111. Wruck assigned the mint of issue to Antioch ad Orentem, but Prieur places it correctly to Tyre.
