SICILY, Selinus, silver didrachm, 520-500 B.C., (8.950 grans, obv. selinon leaf, rev. incuse square divided into ten triangles (S.730, ANS MN 33, Pl. 1 No.13 This Coin). Very fine and rare.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 53 (lot 2046) and The Selinus Archaic Silver Hoard. This heard contained 35 coins of Selinus. The most ever found of this mint in a hoard of 165 silver coins and four silver ingots. The hoard was buried between 510-500 B.C. and is consequently the earliest of its kind ever found in Sicily. The obverse and reverse dies on this coin are die linked to the earliest coins known from that hoard and this coin provides the die link through the obverse die.
