DUTCH INDIA, Negapatam Mint, Indian style coinage, Hindu system, gold pagoda, late version, 1747-1781, struck at Negapatam mint under Dutch control, (3.42 g.), obv. single standing deity, (Visshnu), on either side bent flaps, five dots above on each side, U U on both sides, waves below, rev. convex and granulated (Scholten 1229b [p.139, Plate XV]). Nearly extremely fine, rare.

This coin was issued after 1747 with a lower fineness of 0.800 which is a similar to the star pagoda of Madras and the pagoda of the Nawab. A further reduction in the stansard took place in 1767 to a new fineness of 0.769.
