ATTICA, Athens, (449-413 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.70 grams), issue c.430 B.C., obv. head of Athena to right wearing ivy crested helmet, eye in profile, rev. owl standing to right, head facing, in erect posture, olive twig and crescent behind, to right, **AQE, all in incuse square, (S.2526, BMC 62, cf.Starr Pl.XXII, SNG Cop.33-40). Gashes across Athena's head and owl's head on reverse and an indentation on face of Athena, several cuts into edge, otherwise with grey tone and nearly very fine.
