MACEDON, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.180 grams), Magnesia mint, issued 319-305 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin, dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, owl to left, AT monogram under throne, **[ALE]XANDRPOU* to right, (cf.S.6730, Price 1965 [p.269, Pl;.CXXX], BMC 1965, M.653). Lightly toned, very fine and rare.
