SICILY, Akragas (Agrigentum), (c.520-472 B.C.), silver didrachm, Jenkins Group I, (8.528 grams), obv. eagle with closed wings standing to right, [AKRAC ANTO**S*] around, rev. crab on plain broad flan, (cf.S.708, SNG ANS 916 [same dies], SNG Cop.-, SNG Ash.-). Some surface marks, otherwise nearly very fine and a very rare eagle to right for this the earliest type.

Ex Noble Numismatics Sale 70 (lot 3100). This lot come from an interesting find containing only didrachms. The find has not been previously recorded. The hoard was buried late in the 5th century BC.
