ITALY, Campania, The Campani, (c.415-400 B.C.), silver didrachm or nomos, (7.09 grams), obv. head of helmeted Athena to left, crested helmet, with wreath on helmet, rev. man-headed bull to right, with bird beneath belly, above [KA]**PPANO M* (N reversed), double exergue line, (S.-, Rutter Group 2, No.4 as a die variety [Obv.die 4, rev. die -], cf,SNG.ANS 144 [similar dies], BMC 2). Toned, nearly very fine and very rare.

No published examples of this die combination are known. Rutter in his 1979 exhaustive study of this mint knew of only 42 examples of this mint in all of the public and the published private collections. Almost all examples known from this mint are worn coins.
